Over the years it has sporadically appeared on the deck lid of 911's and generally signified a more powerful engine, bigger brakes and improved suspension. It made a full time return to the Porsche lineup with the introduction of the 997 Carrera S in 2005. These "S" models featured a 3.8L flat 6 engine producing 355 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. This Carrera S is also equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package Plus and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). These optional performance modes provide enhanced response and performance of the throttle mapping, suspension dampening and driver aides.
